ABOUT US

The AICA Paraguay is a federated national section of AICA International (non-governmental organization based in Paris, founded in 1950 under the patronage of UNESCO with the aim of promoting the free expression of art criticism and promote the diversity of its exercise) . The AICA Paraguay, based in Asuncion, is a nonprofit association composed of specialists who carry out their work in the field of criticism, curatorship, teaching, editing and research.

Aims
  • to promote art criticism as a discipline and contribute to its methodology
  • to protect the ethical and professional interests of its Members and co-operate in defending their rights.
  • to facilitate and expand the information and international exchanges in the domain of visual arts.
  • to promote research in the field of art history. Stimulating artistic production in Paraguay.
  • to promote the work of documentation and archiving of the intellectual and artistic production developed in Paraguay.
  • to contribute to the rapprochement and mutual understanding of cultures.

The AICA Paraguay can develop projects and coordinate actions with any national and / or international pursuing cultural objectives

History

The origin of the AICA Paraguay goes back to the 60s of the XX century, when Josefina Pla, supported by a group of enthusiastic writers, made contact with the international office of the AICA in Paris. The participants of the founding moment were Ramiro Dominguez, Miguel Angel Fernández and Osvaldo Gonzalez Real. In later years Ticio Escobar, Luly Codas, Jesus Ruiz Nestosa, Alban Gueyraud Martinez, Vicky Torres and Javier Rodríguez Alcalá, Adriana Almada, Fernando Quevedo Moure and Enyo joined the association.
